District welcomes new teachers
On July 10, the Silver Creek Central School Board of Education met for their annual reorganization and regular meeting to prepare for the 2018-2019 school year.
In May, Gregory Cole was re-elected to the board with 256 votes. At the July 10 meeting, he was sworn in and began his five-year term. He was also elected board president, and Steven Boothe was elected vice president of the school board.
Superintendent Todd Crancall oversaw the annual appointments of various positions in the district including district officers and coordinators. He welcome three new hires to the district: Scott Herdzik was appointed to a probationary position as elementary school teacher; Elizabeth Bromsted was appointed to a probationary position as a special education teacher at the elementary school; and Erin Cole was appointed to a probationary position as a special education teacher at the middle/high school.
Crandall reported that he board will be meeting on a different day of the week for the 2018-2019 school year. The board will now meet on the second and fourth Thursday nights of every month, with the exception of August, when the board will meet on Aug. 2 and Aug. 23. The meetings will still be held at 7 p.m. and the public is encouraged to attend.
