Amanda Austin

Hello Knights,

My name is Amanda Austin and I am the honored to be Silver Creek Central School District’s new Native American Education Program Coordinator. I am a proud Silver Creek resident for over 20 years. I live in town with my husband, Robert, our three amazing children, my mother, our dog, and our 4 cats. Family is everything to us and we spend as much time together as we can in between the many extra-curricular activities our children participate in. We also enjoy spending quality time with friends, as well as volunteering within the community. I have worked in the district for about 16 years, serving in a variety of roles. I am an enrolled member of the St. Regis Mohawk tribe, and my family is also part of the Seneca Nation of Indians. I grew up between Angola, NY and the Cattaraugus Territory. I am a graduate of SUNY Fredonia, where I have received a Bachelor’s degree, a Master’s degree, an Advanced Certificate, and I will be attending to earn another Advanced Certificate in Educational Leadership.

As I leave the classroom, I recognize that this position aligns closely with my passion for promoting and supporting Native American education and culture. I am incredibly excited at the opportunity to contribute to the students and families, the communities we serve, and the district itself in this new capacity. The community should know that I am here for you and your students to help where I can. This new school year is a new opportunity to open the lines of communication further with families and the community, and I look forward to the work we can accomplish together for our youth.
