Did you know Martin Luther King Jr. is the only non-president to have a national holiday and a statue on the National Mall in Washington, D.C.? During the less than 13 years Dr. King led the civil rights movement, his teachings of nonviolent resistance and inspirational writings on equality gained international recognition and are still relevant today. The King Center in Atlanta continues Dr. King’s mission.

Jesse Bomberry, Trenton Logan, and Simon White recently completed their ribbon shirt project in Ms. Tahamont’s Seneca 5 class. The boys learned how to follow a pattern, use a rotary tool, lay down ribbon, a continuous lap, add collars and cuffs, sew and do a hem all while learning Seneca. It was a tedious process. The snow days and holiday breaks set them back, but the students persevered and finished the project. A special thanks to Mrs. Huff for showing the class how to do the button holes. #BKP #SCCares
