Good Thursday morning Families, Today is March 23, 2023. I want to provide a second update to my first call this morning. As stated prior, very late last evening we received a report from a high school student that attends school at an offsite location, not the campus here in Silver Creek. The student reported an “alleged threat” to “a school” that the student had received very late last evening from an unknown caller. NO specific school or student or individual was named in the alleged threat. Mr. Yelich, Deputy Johnson, and I worked with law enforcement all evening and this morning - as the threat was deemed non credible by law enforcement a decision was made to open school and operate as normal. Very early this morning we also communicated with the administrators and SRO from the offsite school program which the student who received the alleged threat attends. To err on the side of caution, as we have done in the past, we did arrange for extra Sheriff deputies to be present for student arrival, dismissal and throughout the school day to provide enhanced safety and reassurance. If there any further updates throughout the day, I will send another Broadcast.

Several Silver Creek students attended the "Seventh Generation Operation" at The Jacobs School of Medicine & Biomedical Sciences at the University of Buffalo on March 21st. The Seventh Generation Principle is based on the Haudenosaunee philosophy that the decisions we make today should result in a sustainable world seven generations into the future. This unique presentation provided Indigenous students from Silver Creek, Lake Shore, and Gowanda a hands-on experience in the medical, nursing, and dental fields. Students took part in a "Stop the Bleed" training, took vitals, practiced sutures on simulated skin samples, and participated in dental molding.
