SENIOR’S EFFORT TO HELP IS TRUE BLUE Here’s an update about a member of the Class of 2022 at Silver Creek High School who impressed us by facilitating a fundraiser to help a local family. Senior Victoria Iskra organized the Blue Out the Gym fundraiser held last month (Friday, February 18, 2022) during Black Knight basketball games to honor and raise awareness for Silver Creek graduate Tessa Douglas, who recently lost her father, Dale Douglas, to prostate cancer. “I’ve known Tessa for around 11 years since our families are close friends. After hearing about Tessa’s dad passing away I knew the family had been affected greatly,” says Victoria. “I wanted to do something to honor Dale and support the family in their loss of their husband, dad, and grandpa.” The fundraiser, which featured a bake sale, basket raffle, and a 50/50 raffle, raised $1,455 to be donated to Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center to be put towards future cancer research. Victoria and the district are grateful to all the individuals, businesses and organizations who helped support this effort. #wearesilvercreek #blackknightpride #BKP #Classof2022

Good Sunday afternoon everyone, I hope that everyone had a safe and relaxing February break! Today Governor Hochul announced that New York State will implement the new recommendations set by the CDC.  The Governor stated that starting Wednesday, March 2nd masks will become parent choice (optional) for their children at all grade levels.  To be clear, masks are still required for Monday and Tuesday with Wednesday being the first day for masks being optional, unless Chautauqua County determines otherwise. All other COVID requirements, such screening your child before school for sickness, reporting of positive cases, quarantining, distancing, and Test to Stay and Test to Play remain in effect until the District receives additional information from the state and county. With this change, the most important fact to remember is that individuals may still wear masks if they choose, and we need to support them in their choice.  Supporting differences while considering other people's feelings and beliefs makes our school community stronger and we are Silver Creek strong.  Thank you to the Silver Creek School community as we continue to support the entire student body.  Please do not forget,  "We have navigated the Covid Pandemic together and together we continue to get through it".

Parent Broadcast 2/17/2022 Please be advised that this week we have had 5 elementary students, 3 middle school students, 1 middle school staff, 1 high school student, and 1 high school staff test positive for COVID. The Chautauqua County Department of Health has been notified. As a reminder, New York State provided rapid tests for each school across the state to be sent home with every student so that families have the ability to test their child(ren) over break and/or prior to returning to school after recess. We are working with the health department and are taking all recommended steps to ensure the safety of our students and staff. Rest assured; these individuals will not return until they have completed quarantine/isolation procedures for COVID-19 as directed by the local Department of Health. We once again remind everyone do their part both inside and outside of school to stop the spread of the virus. I encourage everyone to monitor symptoms, stay home if you’re showing any symptoms, and stringently follow social distancing, face mask, and hand washing protocols as advised. Rest assured, the District continues to enforce strict mask wearing policies and social distancing as directed by Chautauqua County and New York State. If you have questions regarding the information in this broadcast, please contact our school nurse or the District Office.
